Zakumi is the name of the mascot of South Africa World Cup 2010: it is a nice leopard with green hairs. This name is composed by “ZA”, referring to South Africa, and “KUMI”, that means “ten” in several African languages. This mascot has been created by Andries Odendaal in 1994 and it has been officialized as World Cup symbol on last September, 22. The clothing of the mascot has been realized thanks to Cora Simpson.
Accoding to the FIFA general secretary, Jerome Valcke, “Zakumi represents South Africa people, geographical aspects and feel. The mascot exemplifies the core of the next World Cup. We are sure that it will bring joy and happiness to everybody in the world”.
So, this mascot will be the next World Cup symbol: we hope that Italy will be the winner
